The Corpus Christi Geological Society has been in existence for over 70 years. In this 70 year history there has never been a repeat President!
Yet, I reluctantly agreed to be President again because I felt
it would be an excellent “precedent” to set for these difficult times.
In these difficult times all of the Geological Societies are dealing with their greatest obstacle.
It is not the price of oil, at least directly.
The members are getting older and hundreds are retiring. Also, this aging
population of members generally volunteer a lot less for committee chair people or members.
I will have a theme this year. It will be “no more excuses because you served on a committee before.”
I will also try to congratulate and thank the dozen or so members that go “above and beyond, year after year”.
